Brand+: How We Built a Retail POS System for a Porto Golf, New Alamein Store

Brand+ is a point-of-sale and inventory system we built for a fashion retail store at Porto Golf, New Alamein. It's one of the earlier things we've built, we're not holding it up as our big flagship win, just showing it honestly: bilingual (Arabic/English, right-to-left), fully offline, running on a computer in the store instead of leaning on the internet to ring up a sale.

Why we made it work offline

A store counter can't just stop working because the wifi drops. So Brand+ doesn't depend on the internet at all: local database, local API, local frontend, all packaged into a desktop app you install straight off a USB drive. No connection needed to sell something, no hosting bill for a single store, no "sorry, the system's down" while someone's standing at the register waiting to pay.

What it actually does

The dashboard gives the owner a quick read on the day: today's and monthly sales, revenue, profit, a rolling sales chart, low-stock warnings, top sellers. All in one screen instead of a notebook or three different spreadsheets.

Inventory is tracked down to color and size, with stock counts and barcodes for every variant, so "how many medium blue shirts do we actually have" has a real answer instead of someone walking to the back to check.

At the register, the POS screen does barcode or name search, a live cart, discounts, and split payments across cash, card, Instapay, and wallet, then closes out the sale, drops the stock count, and prints a numbered receipt.

The part nobody asks about: the receipt printer

Nobody ever asks a software studio about thermal printer drivers, but honestly, that's where a project like this actually lives day to day. Getting Brand+ to talk reliably to a physical Xprinter, raw ESC/POS printing, no popup dialog interrupting the cashier mid-sale, took more real engineering time than any chart on the dashboard did. Doesn't matter how good the dashboard looks if the receipt won't print in under a second.

What we built it with

Next.js and Tailwind on the frontend, NestJS and Prisma on the API, PostgreSQL for local storage, Electron for the desktop shell, all in one repo, packaged for a plain USB install with nothing running in the cloud.

Brand+ isn't a demo. It's a real point-of-sale system a real store runs, offline, every day.
